One of Asia's oldest queer film festivals, the Beijing Queer Film Festival has screened LGBTQ+ cinema in underground and semi-public venues since 2001. It operates in a legally grey zone in China and faces occasional disruption, but has continued to serve as a vital platform for queer visibility in the country.
